The pump has a cam-operated pump piston (3), reciprocating within a pump cylinder (4) and an electromagnetic valve (9), controlling the flow of fuel between the low pressure circuit and the working chamber (5) of the pump cylinder, in both directions. The high pressure line between the pump and the common rail of the fuel injection system contains a non-return valve (7). The magnetic valve has a spring-loaded valve closure (10), cooperating with a valve seat (12) to provide a non-return valve, with a valve rod lifting it from its valve seat when the valve magnet is operated at the beginning of the high pressure feed.

Es wird eine Hochdruckpumpe (1) vorgeschlagen, die eine Arbeitskammer (5) hat, die einerseits über ein Magnetventil (9) an einen Niederdruckkreislauf (17) und andererseits über ein Rückschlagventil (7) an einen Hochdruckspeicher (2) anschließbar ist. Das Magnetventil (9) hat einen federbelasteten Schließkörper (10), der mit einem Ventilsitz (12) zusammenarbeitet und mit diesem ein Rückschlagventil bildet. Über einen Ventilstößel (13) des Magnetventils (9) ist bei unbestromtem Magneten die Rückschlagfunktion des Schließkörpers (10) ausschaltbar, so daß auch bei einem anfänglichen Arbeitshub der Hochdruckpumpe (1) die Verbindung mit dem Niederdruckkreislauf (17) erhalten bleibt. Erst bei einer während des Arbeitshubes erfolgenden Bestromung des Magnetventils (9) läßt der Ventilstößel (13) den Schließkörper (10) auf seinen Ventilsitz (12) gelangen, worauf dann die Hochdruckförderung beginnt. Die Hochdruckpumpe (1) ist zur Verwendung bei Kraftstoffeinspritzanlagen von Dieselmotoren von Kraftfahrzeugen bestimmt. <IMAGE>
