[origin: WO9703891A1] The invention concerns a container for food, in particular for serving, storing and transporting food, the container having at least one lid element and at least one floor element (1a, 1b), these elements being designed to be placed flush against each other to form at least one dish-shaped recess (5a, 5b, 5c). Integrally moulded with the lid element (1a) is a connection element (3). The walls of the recesses (5a, 5b, 5c) in the floor element (1b) rise up from the bottom to form a flat rim (17) round which the arms (35) of the H-section connection element (3) fit to form a sealing ring, the walls of the recesses being held together by the elastic distortion of the ring at least in certain areas. This design gives a stable unit which is simple to assemble and in which the food is hermetically sealed. The container preferably also has locking means which can be released by simple hand movements to enable the various components of the container to be separated from each other for washing.
