[origin: WO9705267A2] A composition for delivery of a polynucleotide to mucosal, neural, or other cells, comprising a GN1-binding protein and a polynucleotide in association with the binding protein; and a method for modulating immunity comprising administering the composition to an animal and expressing the polynucleotide whereby the animal generates an immune response to the product of the polynucleotide; and a method for gene therapy comprising administering to an animal a GM1-binding protein and a functional polynucleotide and expressing the polynucleotide in the animal whereby the function of the polynucleotide confers on the animal a therapeutic effect.
