[origin: DE19527415A1] The invention relates to a process and a device for drying ceramic green bricks (6) arranged in a drying rack (7) in several vertical and few side-by-side levels. The green bricks are dried by means of a transverse airflow (14) with a substantially uniform pressure distribution directed at the entire side surface of the green brick charge (6), which is closely surrounded by a frame (15) of the drying rack. The blower (4) has an outlet aperture (12) which covers the entire side surface of the green brick charge (6) in the drying rack (7) and the pressure distribution in the airflow (14) is substantially uniform over the outlet aperture (12). The temperature and/or humidity of the drying air (14) may fluctuate.
