Abstract (en)
[origin: EP0841015A1] A sports boot consists of a rigid collar (20) to support the lower leg, articulated at the ankle to a foot section (10) so that the leg can flex forwards during use. The lower end of the collar is also made to permit a certain transverse movement of the lower leg by means of fastenings (21) which pass through holes in the collar and engage with elongated slots (13) in the foot section, with elastic elements (27) to return the collar to its original position after flexure. In variants of the design the components which permit transverse movement can be in the form of deforming zones in the collar, formed by lengthwise slits or ribs.
