[origin: EP0841266A2] This new method is used when flooding underground storage chambers, especially for gas. At least the minimum geo-mechanical pressure is contained. In the novel method, a liquid column of flooding medium is established. This is maintained throughout the flooding process, and is used in flooding the chamber. The pressure of the fluid column is used in automatic compensation of the internal pressure arising in the chamber. Should there be an interruption of flooding flow, the chamber is automatically shut off. Also claimed is equipment to carry out the method. In the chamber borehole (16) a flooding tube string (13) is built in. This comprises an outer tube (10) with an overflow opening (8) and is closed at the pipe saddle (5). It includes an inner tube (9).
