Abstract (en)
[origin: EP0841283A1] The lift comprises a drive mechanism (4) mounted at the top end of the lift shaft (1), having a pulley (4.1) driving the cage (2) and counterweight (3) by ropes. The cage and weight work in guides (6) in the shaft. The mechanism can be contained in a frame on the end of a swing arm whose other end works in a supporting yoke at the top end of the shaft or guide. A drive mechanism can be provided for the arm, with electric motor or hand crank, while a locking mechanism can fix the arm in the yoke in the working position, the drive mechanism being then horizontal with the pulley at its underside.
