[origin: EP0841438A2] The shaft has a housing, preferably cast-iron, extending through the road surface and into the base portion, and is closed by a top cover. An external thread (27) on the housing engages directly in the road material (20-22), and portions (30) are formed in the housing top end for engagement by a screwing tool (35). The thread can be relatively flat and of fine pitch. There can be an internal flange (24) at the top end containing the portions engaged by the tool, and which can also form a support for the cover. The latter can extend over the portions engaged by the tool.
