[origin: DE19617475A1] The invention concerns an orbital sander with a drive shaft (18) which is rotatably mounted in a housing (12) and imparts an orbital movement to a grinding disc (218) which is resiliently connected to the housing (12) via oscillating elements (38, 39, 40). The ability of the orbital sander to remove material is increased in that the grinding disc (218) can be coupled to the eccentric region (26, 28) of the drive shaft (18) such that the grinding disc is decoupled from the oscillating elements (38, 39, 40).
