Abstract (en)
[origin: EP0843035A2] To produce a pile fabric on a warp knitter, using pile sinkers and a single needle bed, the yarns are drawn into the guide needles to give one charged/one empty, with every other needle used for stitching. The number of pile sinkers is half the number of needles. Right side pile yarns are used, which are gripped by the pile sinkers together with the ground yarns, to be laid round the inactive needles and then cast off. Also claimed is a warp knitter where the guide needle bars (L1-L4) carry the yarns in a pattern of one charged/one empty, and controlled so that stitches are formed by alternate needles (2). A yarn feed for the right side pile yarn (13) has a control so that it is gripped over by the pile sinkers (22), to be laid round the inactive needles (2') and then cast off. The number of pile sinkers (22) is half the number of needles (2).
