[origin: EP0843039A1] A steam generator consists of a chamber (12) with heating elements (13), fed with water by a pump (11) and equipped with an electrically- controlled valve (15) for expelling steam. It also has a regulator in the form of a temperature or pressure sensor (14) to monitor the amount of water in the chamber and to actuate the pump. The regulator is connected to an electronic system which carries out a succession of measures and operates the pump as a function of the temperature or pressure in the chamber (12). The chamber can comprise a metal container (12a) in thermal contact with the sensor (14), which incorporates an electrical resistance such as a thermistance, and the heating elements are controlled by the electronic system on the basis of data supplied by the sensor.
