[origin: EP0843063A1] The device brakes and locks a rotating (2) or swinging door, and has two telescopic members (9) which have an inserted brake. One member is fastened to a fixed frame (1) and the other (12) is fastened to the moving door. Each member is formed from an arm (13) which is guided in a tube (10), and which slides past the brake (18). The tube has a region (16) with a slightly larger cross section, in which the brake is inactive, or less active. The arm and the tube are fixed to the frame and the region is chosen, so that the braking effect is at a maximum 30 degrees before the maximum opening width of the door.
