[origin: EP0843456A1] The emergency call system operates via a digital radio network which supports receiver stations installed worldwide. Preferably the emergency call controls a control channel of the network and is transmitted on this channel. Alternatively the emergency call may control the network information channel. An emergency call transmitter combines a transmitter device in a standard wrist watch next to an electric clock mechanism. The transmitter device may be combined in a pager. Preferably the emergency signal is triggered by means of a switch in the watch cover. The emergency call signal may have a triple start to make a connection with a receiver station within 15 seconds. The contents of the signal may be encoded to relate to the emergency call and also to the person transmitting. The information may be received by the globally distributed receiver stations and analysed by them.
