[origin: WO9704420A1] To overcome the problem in a video telephony system that a caller looking at his display will not at the same time be looking at a video camera positioned beside the display, the video signal produced by the camera is processed so that the caller's eyes appear to be indeed looking at the camera. Parts of the video signal which represent the eye or eyes of the caller are located and modified so as to move the pupils and irises in the represented image. These parts of the signal are moreover modified to apply a polynomial spatial warp to the surroundings of each iris in the represented image, which warp is such as to cause these surroundings to accommodate the movement of the pupil and iris of the corresponding eye.
