Abstract (en)
[origin: EP0844402A1] Insulating material is attached to brickwork using a retainer having a flat retaining plate (2) to which a hollow shaft (13) is attached. A nail (3) with a head is contained within the shaft, which has a slot (14) forming an expansion zone (12). A plastic pin (5) is clamped within the shaft and projects above the retaining plate by a distance corresponding to the length of the expansion zone. The pin is hammered-in to drive the nail inwards for expansion. Preferably, the pin is made of a high strength composite material and has two spaced beads (6) at either end.
