[origin: EP0844621A2] A coaxial cable arrangement including a coaxial cable (K1- K4) for transmission of high-frequency (HF) electromagnetic waves and comprising a tube-shaped outer conductor (2) with a plastics outer sheath (1), and inner conductor (3) and a low-loss dielectric (4) between the outer- (2) and inner-conductor (3), the latter each being realised by a tubular outer-conductor (5,11) and inner-conductor metallic layer (6,8) of high conductivity and applied on a plastics carrier. The thickness of the outer-conductor and inner-conductor metal layer (5,11;6,8) is equal, at least, to the depth of penetration of the electromagnetic waves being transmitted through the coaxial cable (K1-K4). The coupling arrangement for joining the ends of two coaxial cables together comprises two connectors screwable together at their free ends by means of a coupling ring, the connectors being matched to the characteristic impedance of the coaxial cables.
