Abstract (en)
[origin: EP0844638A1] The structure has two L-shaped magnetic parts (1,2) which support a central permanent magnet (28) and two outer magnets and are magnetically coupled. Switches (9a,9b) are coupled to each outer magnet. An EM coil produces an electromagnetic flux which adds to the magnetic flux level from the two magnetic poles and passes across the switches in parallel, allowing switching. A magnetic rod extends along the length of the structure and the magnetic parts can pivot about the edge of the rod.
