Abstract (en)

[origin: WO9707041A2] A towing conveyor system is disclosed for transporting and towing loads in industrial plants and storage halls. The towing conveyor system has a known electric suspended car that runs on rails and a towing truck with rollers for moving on the floor. The floor truck is coupled by towing bars to the electric suspended car. In order to overcome level differences and be conveyed back the empty towing conveyor system may be folded upwards in the direction of the rails and be transported on a return track without the need for additional accessory equipment. The advantages of the invention mainly consist in that the towing conveyor system is cheap to produce and may be built into both existing and new electric suspended car systems. It dispenses with costly and heavy gripping and lifting devices for transporting the automotive trucks, and with complex lifting and lowering stations for overcoming level differences. The motor vehicles are moved without a driver and without a running engine, so that set-up and standstill times are shortened, labour and fuel costs are saved, and the noise level and pollutant emissions are reduced.
