[origin: DE19623989A1] A spark plug has a tubular metallic housing, an insulator retained by the housing and an inner conductor arrangement embedded in the insulator and consisting of a connection bolt, an erosion resistance, a contact pin and a platinum central electrode. Four earth electrodes are secured to the housing, are bent towards the central electrode and project with their thickness over the insulator. The contact pin is coated and shortened in such a way that the erosion resistance projects as much as possible into the electrode gap. The platinum central electrode is shaped as a nail whose rear part has a smaller diameter than the front part which projects out of the insulator.
