[origin: EP0845218A2] The method involves wetting the uncut ribs to a maximum moisture content of roughly 45 per cent, and then drying them to a moisture content of less than roughly 12 per cent. They are then re-moistened to the level used for subsequent processing. The mixture can be heated beforehand to between 30 and 50 degrees C, and drying can be carried out in a steam drier, particularly of the drum- or Burley-type. Re-moistening can take place in a conditioning drum or the last chamber of a Burley drier.
