[origin: EP0845230A1] The compact consists of a lid (102) and a base (101) which is shaped to receive a refill (1) of the cosmetic product (P), having one or more arms (105, 106) shaped to form an aperture (107) which matches the shape of the refill. The arms are able to deform elastically for removal and replacement of a refill, which is held in position by its edge (2) engaging with a groove. The refill is, for example, circular in shape, with the arms covering its outer edge over an angle of between 190 and 210 deg and pref between 195 and 205 deg. Its outer surface can have a thread to receive a cover.
