[origin: EP0845370A2] The marking, printing or structuring method involves applying a lacquer and/or a coloured ink to the surface of the card. The latter is selectively illuminated in accordance with the required markings, print characters, or structures before complete hardening, using UV light. The illuminated areas exhibit local variations in smoothness or colour. The UV light may be provided by a polychromatic beam, with different filters inserted in the beam path for filtering out corresponding wavelengths.
