Abstract (en)
[origin: EP0846554A2] The compacter comprises one or more pairs of hollow cylinders (1) with meshing helical teeth (10,20). The cylinders rotate in opposite directions, and the material to be compacted is fed into the their meshing zone, being forced through channels between the teeth to emerge on the inside of the cylinders in rods (B) which are broken off at a given length. Both the lateral faces of the teeth and their tips have outward-facing convex surfaces, and the inlet end of each of the compacting channels is in a truncated conical shape, converging towards the channel outlet.
