[origin: EP0846650A1] The method involves first attaching the jib (8) to the base of the crane mast head (6), then attaching the free end of the counter-jib stay (13) to an assembly strap (25) fixed temporarily to the top of the mast head, lifting the strap to align the stay and fixing the stay with a peg. The next stage consists of attaching the jib (7) to the base of the mast head on the opposite side to the counter-jib, connecting the free ends of its stays (16,17) to an assembly strap fixed provisionally to the mast head, and then lifting the strap to align the stays and fasten them in place at the top of mast head with pegs. The straps can be made as part of the stays, and are hoisted into position by winches.
