[origin: EP0846811A1] The member comprises two sheet metal edge strips (11,12) and a synthetic rubber middle strip (30) joined to the edge strips by vulcanisation. At one end of the expansion member, the edge strips are joined together to form a zero movement point. Along the synthetic rubber strip, one edge strip (12) is overlapped over the other to form a protective covering. Preferably, one (11) of the strips has a cut-out in the area of the zero movement point and the other edge strip is welded to the edge of the cut-out.
