[origin: DE19532289C1] The invention concerns a housing (1) of a gas instrument which comprises a connecting branch (2) for the gas supply line (6). In athe connecting branch (2), there is a stop valve (9), the valve closing cone (12) of which is under the influence of a spring element (10) and is held in the open position by a melting substance (11). The temperature resistance of the housing is limited to 400 DEG C, by comparison with which the connecting branch (2) together with the locking valve (9) withstands the long-term influence of an ambient temperature of at least 500 DEG C. Because of its low temperature resistance, the housing can be made economically, while the desired safety in the event of a fire is achieved solely by the stop valve which consists of a material resistant to high temperatures, and which is integrated in the connecting branch.
