Abstract (en)

[origin: DE19531985A1] An inlet system is disclosed for a piston internal combustion engine having at least one cylinder (4) with several inlet ducts (10, 11) and a manifold with an inlet pipe (13) joined to the inlet ducts. An intake valve works in each inlet duct (10, 11). The inlet system is characterised in that the inlet pipe (13) has a partition (17) that can be moved, depending on the state of operation of the internal combustion engine, from a position in which the cross-section of the flow path is reduced and only one inlet duct (10) is open to a position in which the flow path has maximum cross-section and all intake ducts (10, 11) are open.
