Abstract (en)
The method involves applying glue on a spine during passage of a book block (1) through a book binding machine, and monitoring the application of glue by measuring the thickness of the glue that is applied as it passes through a measuring zone which is formed by a beam. Preferably, the zone is formed by a transmitter (3) and receiver (5) acting as a measurement transducer in a zone transverse to the direction of movement (10) of the book block. The measurement is converted into a signal which is transmitted for comparison with a setpoint value.

Die Vorrichtung dient zum Ueberwachen des Leimauftrages auf einen Buchblock (1) in einer Buchbindemaschine (2). Sie weist einen Sender (3) auf, der quer zur Ebene des Buchblockes (1) gegen den Buchrücken (4) und gegen einen Empfänger (5) Signale sendet. Der Sendebereich ist so eingestellt, dass in einer Luftstrecke (7) zwischen dem Sender (3) und dem Empfänger (5) ein nicht beleimter Buchrücken (4) einen Teil des Sendebereiches abdeckt. <IMAGE>
