[origin: EP0848151A2] The air/fuel ratio regulation method uses a regulator with a proportional-integral regulation characteristic, receiving a signal from a lambda probe (5) which is inserted in the engine exhaust line upstream of a catalyser (2), providing a setting value for the fuel/air ratio. The proportional component of the output signal from the first regulation circuit (9) for the first lambda probe is altered in dependence on the output signal from a second lambda probe (6) inserted in the exhaust gas line after the catalyser.
