Abstract (en)
[origin: EP0848160A1] The method involves detecting oscillations in the signal corresponding to the voltage across the starter motor or the current passing through it. The starter motor current is cut when these oscillations cease. Within the signal the successive durations for which the voltage is continuously increasing may be determined. The starter current is cut when one of these periods becomes greater than a given threshold. Distinct values are ascribed to this threshold during the search period from the initial closure of the starter switch. The search period is of a duration chosen to ensure that it covers the possibility that the first and second oscillations at the start of compression are confused.
