[origin: EP0848215A2] A remote monitoring apparatus 3 for detecting an abnormal operation of an air conditioner by abnormal operation detecting means 11a retrieves a storage region 11c into which the detected abnormal operation has been stored. If there is a content identical to the presently sensed content in this storage region, then report judging means 11d cancel to report. Conversely, if there is no content identical to the presently sensed content, then reporting means 11b reports via a public line to a remote monitoring terminal. When present reporting suppressing time T has passed, the abnormal operation content of the storage region is automatically erased. As a result, it is possible to suppress reporting of such an abnormal operation which continuously occurs within preselected time after this abnormal operation has once occurred. <IMAGE>
