[origin: EP0849005A1] The hammer has a housing containing a sliding impact piston (18) with a connecting channel (42) for a pressurised medium leading from a supply connection to a pressure biasing chamber (40). The connecting channel has a straight main section which, starting from the pressure biasing chamber, comprises an axial channel through the piston and an adjoining pipeline (34,64) in or through the spring chamber (28). A branch channel of a valve unit is formed by through openings (46) in the wall of this pipeline. The pipeline comprises a tube (34) connected on one side fixed to the housing end wall (6) on the spring chamber side and on the other side is projected into an axial bore (30) of the piston in which it slides sealed in same.
