[origin: EP0849716A2] The monitoring system uses detection of vital parameters, body movements and the location of the monitored person for automatic initiation of an alarm call, for requesting assistance. The measured parameters are converted into corresponding electrical signals (115) fed to a signal processor (4), which is coupled to a communication device (2) for communication with the monitored person and which provides data for an input/output device (8), coupled to external sensors (3.1) and external components (9).
