[origin: DE19533577C1] The invention concerns a fixed mould for the continuous casting of, in particular, steel, the mould having an electromagnetic device made up of a multiplicity of stirrer elements disposed in pairs at intervals along the outer wall of the mould and connected to an a.c. power supply. There are at least two pairs of stirrer elements (21-24), and the elements in each pair are disposed at an angle to each other in the form of an X in a plane parallel to the direction of casting, all the pairs lying at substantially the same height.
