[origin: WO9710154A1] Proposed is a screw-on closure cap (1) made of plastic, the cap having, on the inside surface of the top (4) of the cap, a circular sealing lip (8) of a given flexural strength which, when the cap is screwed on, seals off the mouth (2) of the container from the cylindrical inner surface (2') of the mouth. Located a certain radial distance inwards from the sealing lip is a circular rib (8) which extends downwards with a tapering cross section from the inside surface of the top of the cap, but does not extend as far downwards as the sealing lip so that, when the cap is screwed on, the rib makes contact with the sealing lip and presses it against the inside surface of the container mouth.
