[origin: WO9710439A1] A side channel compressor in which the gap (7) between the impeller (2) and the housing sections (1) surrounding the impeller (2) is sealed by a sealing strip (8) fitted in a peripheral groove (9) in the corresponding wall regions of the housing sections (1). The sealing strip (8) fitted in the housing is largely prevented from adversely affecting the efficiency of the side channel compressor in that the sealing strip (8) is held by a setting compound in widened parts (11) of the groove (9) at various points around its periphery and positively securing it by shrinking.
