[origin: EP0850581A1] To produce a mattress, this new method starts with a raw slab of latex (1), whose dimensions are non-standard for a mattress. The new approach places the slab in a rigid frame of set dimensions, which is essentially a forming templet (3), and which causes slab compression. Over the upper surface, a covering (4) of greater stiffness is e.g. adhered. This maintains the width and/or length of the slab after it is pulled out, at a value corresponding to that of the templet frame (3), resulting in a mattress of standard width and/or length. Also claimed is a bedding mattress made as described.
