A drying cylinder of a machine for the production of a continuous web of material, especially of sanitary paper, has a casing with fins (7) and grooves (9) running circumferentially on its inner surface, the fins being narrower than the grooves. Preferably, the boundary walls (11, 13) of fins and grooves run parallel to each other and stand upright relative to the cylinder's circumferential surface (15). The fin height (h) is greater than the casing thickness (d), both measured from the groove base (17) which is formed as a cylinder surface. Preferably, there are three suction tubes in each groove.

Es wird eine Maschine zur Herstellung einer kontinuierlichen Materialbahn, insbesondere von sanitären Papieren, mit mindestens einem Trockenzylinder, um den die zu trocknende Materialbahn herumgeführt wird, der mit Dampf von innen beheizbar ist und dessen Mantel auf der Innenfläche mit durch Rippen voneinander getrennten Umfangsrillen versehen ist, vorgeschlagen, die sich dadurch auszeichnet, daß die Breite mindestens einzelner, vorzugsweise aller Umfangsrillen (23;23';23''; 23''') im Bereich des radial äußeren Grundes (49) größer ist als im Bereich des radial inneren Ursprungs, und daß die Breite mindestens einer vorzugsweise aller Rippen (25) im Bereich des radial äußeren Endes kleiner ist als im Bereich des radial inneren Ursprungs. <IMAGE>
