Abstract (en)

[origin: EP0851183A2] Low temperature plant consisting of a number of units in a cascade configuration where each unit consists of a compressor, a condenser, an expansion valve and an evaporator. A plant with three units (I, II, III), each of which used a different coolant, is shown. These units are connected thermally through plate heat exchangers (6,20) so that the coolant in a particular unit is pre-cooled by that in the preceding stage.
