[origin: EP0851712A2] The oven has an oven housing for accepting the material to be heat treated, a door, a microwave power source and a device for radiating the microwave energy into the interior of the oven. The oven housing has a microwave proof metal coating (12) with a microwave transmissive thermal insulation layer (11) inside it. The device for radiating the microwave energy contains at least one microwave slotted hollow conductor (7,8) in a corresp. opening (13) in the metal coating (12) with the slotted surface facing the interior of the oven.
