[origin: DE19538545A1] The invention concerns a method of improving the control behaviour of a controlled braking system (ABS, ABR) in which the rotation of the individual vehicle wheels is measured and evaluated in order to determine the controlled variables, and in which slip threshold values are predetermined for initiating the control process. According to the invention, in order to suppress the effects of irregularities in the road surface, the slip threshold of a wheel is increased for a predetermined time interval (T) as a function of the acceleration (vR) after preceding instability. This increase in the threshold can occur in two stages (1st stage, 2nd stage) as a function of the acceleration limits (ag1, ag2) exceeded.
