[origin: WO9713023A1] The invention concerns a device for producing preferably patterned textile strips (10') from a wide band (10) of a meltable material, the device comprising a heated cutting member (21) which may consist of an electrically heated wire. In order to develop an economical and compact device, a spring, advantageously a leaf spring, is associated as a pressure member with this heated wire. The leaf spring (22) has an aperture penetrated by the heated wire (21). Althrough the leaf spring (22) itself is not heated, its pressure region passes so close to the wire (21) that this region still acts on the strip edge areas which have been rendered plastic by the cutting process.
