Abstract (en)
A pair of pliers includes a handle member having an intermediate portion slidably engaged in an intermediate portion of another handle member which has a rack located closer to the handle end. A pawl is pivotally secured on the handle member for engaging with the rack so as to secure the intermediate portions of the handle members together when the jaw ends are engaged with the workpiece. Two panels and a plate are pivotally mounted between the first and second handle members, and a torsion spring is mounted between the two panels to provide a reliable operation. <IMAGE>
