[origin: EP0854234A1] A noise damper for tramline rails consists of a jacket of a strong, elastic material which covers at least one side of a rail (5). The jacket is made, for example, in three sections (2, 3, 4) which are shaped to fit against both sides and base of the rail. The upper edges of the side sections lie adjacent to the surface of the rail and are some 42 mm wide, and the side sections also have holes through them to take the rail spacer rods, to which the jacket is fixed by nuts. The rail jacket is made from a material which has an elasticity factor of 5 Nm to 20 Nm, measured according to DIN 53515, and a resistance to pressure of at least 40 kg/sq cm. The material is rubber, and especially recycled rubber from used tyres, mixed with a polyurethane binding agent.
