[origin: DE19539551A1] In a measurement system for sensing the position of a piston (6) capable of moving within a cylinder (1) to which a pressure may be applied, a position transmitter (11), for example a magnet, is linked to the piston (6) inside the cylinder (1), and a sensor (12) that may be driven outside the cylinder (1) by a drive (13, 14) along the path of displacement of the position transmitter (11) senses a signal intensity depending on its distance from the position transmitter (11). The sensor (12) is driven by a regulator (17) in such a way that it presents a maximum signal intensity. By detecting the position of the sensor (12), the position of the position transmitter (11) may be deducted.
