[origin: DE19641510A1] The method involves hardening and tempering the chisel up to 50-53 HRC. The outer diameter (3), including the cut-out (6), is once again tempered at high temperatures over depth (5) to achieve surface hardness from 40 to 43 HRC. A deliberate marginal carbonization can be carried out on the surface before hardening and tempering. With subsequent hardening through the reduced carbon content a hardness of 40-43 HRC is reached on the surface and a hardness of 50-53 HRC is reached on the head, work tip and core.
