Abstract (en)
[origin: DE19608658C1] The invention relates to a circuit arrangement for igniting a high-pressure gas discharge lamp (1). Said arrangement contains a bridge circuit (10) in which two controlled switching transistors (11, 12) are arranged in at least one branch. The high-pressure gas discharge lamp (1) is supplied by way of the bridge branch (13-16) of the bridge circuit (10) with igniting and burning power, the primary winding (9) of a transformer (7) being arranged in the bridge branch. An oscillating circuit (6, 8) is arranged on the secondary winding (6) of said transformer, the high-pressure gas discharge lamp (1) being supplied with burning and igniting power by said oscillating circuit (6, 8) on the secondary side. Burning and ignition function are performed with high frequency. The transformation ratio (üZ) of the transformer (7) is increased, in relation to the transformation ratio (üB) when the high-pressure gas discharge lamp (1) is in operation, to ignite the high-pressure gas discharge lamp (1). Said increase is carried out, in particular, by transistor(30)-controlled short-circuiting of a part (9K) of the primary winding (9) of the transformer (7) during ignition.
