Abstract (en)

[origin: EP0856379A1] The unit comprises two opposite jaws able to be clamped against the span to be machined. A first jaw (3) carries a shoe (10) having a rigid, concave support surface (11) which fits the span of the piece. It also has means (1) for immobilising the abrasive band relative to the support surface during machining. The second jaw (5) carries two reaction rollers (17) spaced from each other in the circumferential direction of the span and directed parallel to its axis. In this way during clamping of the jaws on the span, the shoe applies the abrasive band against the span over a circumferential angle between 120<o> and 180<o>. The reaction rollers are applied directly against the span along the generating line of this latter spaced from each other over an angle between 60<o> and 120<o>.
