[origin: EP0856617A2] The banister has multiple upright posts (1) each with parallel spaced vertically extending strips defining a gap between them. There are joint connectors (4) extending between the strips to hold them in place and carry mounting brackets for the panels supported on the posts. Each joint has clamp plates (9) with an opening for a retaining screw (23) extending through the plate and the gap between the strips. The clamp screws are removable and vertically adjustable with respect tot he posts. The barrier upper rail (7) is supported on brackets which fit into the upper ends of the posts.
