Abstract (en)
[origin: WO9715517A1] The device proposed for combining and processing at least two continuous strips of paper or film includes unwinding units (1a, 1b, 1c) in each of which a strip of paper (3a, 3b, 3c) is unwound from a roll (2a, 2b, 2c) by take-off rollers (7a, 8a; 7b, 8b; 7c, 8c) and markings made at regular intervals, each strip being optionally passed over a deflection roller (13a, 13b, 13c). The at least two strips (3a, 3b, 3c) are then combined and fed to a processing line (11) where they pass through optionally independent processing units and are fed to a further-processing unit (15). The invention calls for means for ensuring the congruency of the longitudinal and/or transverse registers on the at least two strips (3a, 3b, 3c), these means including means for establishing an essentially equal tension in each of the at least two strips across the width of the strip, feelers (18, 17a, 17b, 17c) designed to detect the time sequence of the markings (25) on each strip (3a, 3b, 3c) and a control unit (19) designed to control, for each strip, a drive/brake unit and/or to control a motor (28a, 28b, 28c) operating in conjunction with a roller (24a, 24b, 24c) extending across each strip (3a, 3b, 3c).
